Independent Trade Union of the State Enterprise Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant (hereafter ITU INPP)
Statute was adopted at the founding meeting of INPP employees on December 19, 1991. Joined by the Board of the Ignalina district April 18, 1992.
ITU INPP belongs to the union of Visaginas Trade Unions, and also to the Federation of Trade Unions of Lithuanian industry, and through it to the Confederation of Trade Unions of Lithuania (CTUL) and the International Federation of Chemical, Energy, Mine and General Workers’ Unions (ICEM), the European Federation of Public Services Union (EPSU), the Public Services International (PSI), the European Mining, Chemical and Energy workers’ Federation (EMCEF), and is a member of the World Council of Nuclear Workers (WONUC).
To the ITU members can belong: any worker INPP, except the employer and its authorized representatives, and also the regular workers of the ITU apparatus.
The Goal of ITU is the protection of economic, social and professional interests of union members, regardless of their political and religious views. This goal ITU carries through the conclusion and verify the implementation of the Collective Agreement, improving of the wages, creating a safe working environment, solving social issues, the introduction of additional guarantees and benefits, distribution of profits and formation of the encourage funds, legal aid to workers in the event of conflict with the employer.
At the present time to these tasks of Trade Union were added new, and main among them — to protect the interests of employees in connection with the decision to close the Ignalina NPP, restructuring the company. ITU participated in the preparation of the law on social guarantees for workers laid off due to the closing of the first unit of INPP, together with other public institutions involved in addressing employment population of Visaginas, job creation and other measures to mitigate the effects of closing the NPP.
The governing bodies of ITU of INPP are conference (general meeting) and the Council. In the intervals between meetings of the Council, the Presidium Council is in Action. Chairman of the Trade Union organizes the work of Council, Presidium Council and manages apparatus employees ITU. The chairman has a deputy. Monitoring of organizational and financial activities of the Trade Union carries out audit committee. Operative informing about the affairs of the Trade Union and the Council’s decisions is made via the website ITU, placed on the server of the Ignalina NPP, and also on the external site.
